Our story

Behind Aligns

Aligns was founded by two experienced triallists with extensive, hands-on experience, mostly in their specialisms, in clinical trial statistics and database development and management. While we currently operate as a small, focused consultancy, our background includes significant contributions to numerous successful trials across various therapeutic areas. Our expertise ensures that we bring a wealth of practical knowledge and insight to any contracted service that we offer.  Combined we have over 65 years of clinical research experience.

We are partners in life with a mature large family, and  we hope this is taken as a positive.  We have worked together for over 20 years and highly motivated to deliver quality input to clinical trial in the areas of statistics and data capture going forward.

Our journey continues

  • The decision to establish Aligns stemmed from a desire to continue contributing to clinical research, whilst embracing a flexible  approach to provide a better work, life, balance.
  • We hope that we can fill gaps in the clinical trial roadmap which educates and supports others who may be new to this field/role.
  • We have both taught in academia at post graduate level , supervised PhD students and trained/mentored clinical fellowships who are now up and running successfully in clinical research.
  • We have seen and dealt with first hand the difficulties of juggling many research projects that are funded for small blocks of time.
  • Every funded /peer reviewed clinical research project is important.  Timelines can slip.   What can we do to prevent slippage?
  • Investigators are dealing with a small pond of expert triallists and experienced input can be invaluable.    The ability to include this level of experience without including as a salary cost can be attractive.
  • We hope Aligns can fill resource gaps and get trials over the line in order to provide evidence-based research.

We will not replace trial teams already funded, what we will do is be responsive  and work as part of the team when required.  This is a balance of getting things done at a reasonable cost to avoid delays and potential withdrawal of funds.
